Happiness through fishing.
Coaching | Guiding | Companionship
Welcome to
The Angling Companion.
Ever since I started fishing as a child, I’ve felt a therapeutic benefit to being on, in or beside the water. There is an increasingly strong body of evidence to suggest I am not alone (see section below). Through The Angling Companion my aim is to help other people experience the same benefits and joy that angling has given me.

Angling Companionship
The links between fishing and both physical and mental health are well established (see below). If you would like someone to talk with while casting a line or would like to sit in companionable silence then I would be delighted. -
Learn to fish
I am an Angling Trust Level 2 coach with access to a range of waters around Hertfordshire. Whether you’ve never fished before or would like a refresher on key techniques then I’d be delighted to help you discover the joys of different types of fishing. -
Guiding
Whether you want to chase trout, grayling or carp on the fly; or lure fish for pike or perch then I’d be delighted to help try to put you onto fish.

“Omg, we had such an amazing time. D was so excited to have learnt new techniques and really enjoyed himself. And I feel way more confident about taking him on my own. ”
What The Angling Companion Offers
I set up The Angling Companion to introduce people in and around Hertfordshire to fishing; to refresh the skills of those who’ve been away from the sport for a while; to provide guiding; and to offer companionship.
Whether you are interested in fly fishing on a chalkstream; you want to learn the basics of float fishing or ledgering; you’re keen to try your hand at lure fishing; or you simply want someone to sit with you on the bank, please get in touch:
